Jelenko on top at Slovenian summer nationals
It has been quiet around the Slovenian Nordic Combined team in the past few months but on the past weekend, the summer nationals 2015 were held and it was team leader Marjan Jelenko who came out on top of the result lists.
Jelenko, who had been in the lead already after the jumping part (106 m; 117.5 points) started into the race a comfortable 56 seconds ahead of youngster Vid Vhrovnik who had been turning heads in the Alpencup in the last few weeks. Vhrovnik showed 95 metres, putting him a narrow two seconds ahead of Gasper Berlot who had landed at 94.5 metres.
In the roller-ski race which was held in Pokljuka, Jelenko was never in any danger of losing the victory on the track. Setting the longest jump of the day and the fastest cross-country time of 25:06 for the 10 kilometres, he was clearly the best Nordic Combined athlete of the day and finally finished a clear one minute and 40 seconds ahead of runner-up Gasper Berlot. The third rank went to Joze Kamenik who improved his shared seventh position after the jump to a final podium place by setting the second-fastest time and overtaking four other athletes on the way to the finish line.
