Kokslien wins test competition in Lillehammer

At the Norwegian opening race held in Lillehammer shortly before the start of the new season, Mikko Kokslien claimed the first victory of the winter. The 27-year-old local hero from Lillehammer shared the podium with Miroslav Dvorak from the Czech Republic and Jan Schmid.

After the ski jumping part of the event, Schmid was in the lead with a four-second advance on Czech Pavel Churavy and 14 seconds ahead of teammate Haavard Klemetsen. Kokslien and Dvorak who put up a good fight on the cross-country track in Sjusjoen were about 30 seconds back. In the end, Kokslien won in a sprint finish 1 second ahead of Dvorak.

"It's wonderful to start the season with a victory. It was certainly a great dress rehearsal and I just hope that I will get an equally good race next week. The goal for the World Cup opening next weekend definitely is a podium place. We have a strong team and we're very much looking forward to the season start", the winner said.
