OPA: Weber continues to ride the wave of success
Terence Weber has defended his yellow BIB in the Alpen Cup competition in Predazzo in a dominating fashion. After ranking second already with his jump of 96,5 metres, Weber only needed the fifth fastest cross-country time to cross the finish line 16,6 seconds ahead of teammate Dominik Schwaar. Austrian Philip Orter ranked third, finished 20,7 seconds after Weber.
The rest of the Top Ten ranks went to three Austrian and two more German athletes, Rafaele Buzzi being the only Italian in the Top Ten on rank seven.
In the jumping event, Austria's Martin Fritz set the best jump with 96,5 metres and a total of 117 points, claiming a time advantage of 16 seconds on Weber for the race. Tom Lubitz followed on an intermediate third rank, 20 seconds after Fritz.
In not too easy conditions on the cross-country course with +7°C and sunshine, the fastest on the track was Germany's David Welde who needed 24:20.7 for the 10 kilometre track and improved an intermediate 25th rank into a final fourth one, missing the podium with only 2 seconds.
For the overall, this means a clear lead of Weber with 497 points over Austria's Fanian Steindl (390 p.) and David Welde (313 p.)
