Petter Kukkonen to stay as Finnish head coach
The Finnish Ski Association has announced the coaching staff for the next Olympiad and in Nordic Combined, nothing will change from the successful setup of the last years, with Petter Kukkonen and Assistant Coach Jari Hiekkavirta.
Kukkonen, who has been the head coach since 2012, expressed his thanks for the confidence put in him on finnjumping.fi: "The support we are receiving is good, even if the results in Nordic Combined are not what they have been in the best of times. However, there is a process towards success and we believe we can go for medals in this next Olympiad. Let's hope that the current athletes inspire a lot of young people to start with the sport."
As in the past years, the coaching duties will be split with Kukkonen's assistant, Jari Heikkavirta. "Hiekkis has been on the team for ten years. He is passionate about working with the athletes and a top professional when it comes to the development of the sport. I feel our strengths complement each other well."
