Swiss Tommy Schmid was the winner of the first nordic combined competition at the Winter Universiade in Erzurum (TUR). Schmid was third after the jumping, but with the third-best time in the race he could clearly beat half-time leaders Ivan Panin (RUS) and Shun Yamamoto from Japan.

After starting 22 seconds behind, Schmid then won with 10.8 seconds ahead of Steffen Tepel (GER/14th after the jumping, best time in the race) and Panin (15.3 seconds behind).

The competitions in Erzurum will continue on the weekend with a mass start and a team event. Here are the complete results!
