Team Slovenia right on track
While the Polish team has to fend with a number of injury cases, it seems to be more or less smooth sailing for team Slovenia, according to head coach Primoz Triplat.
"We are training according to the plan and everything is running normal. Somewhat unexpectedly, we took part in the ski jumping competition in Kranj on our national day. This competition came a bit early for us but there were no major problems." (Editor's note: Jelenko finished 7th, Plaznik 17th, Berlot 27th)
During this week, a three-day camp in Rogla is on schedule for the team which is missing Mitja Oranic who has contracted Borrelia bacteria and is currently treated with antibiotics. "At the moment, we do not know how bad his infection is," Triplat says. "It's a very unfortunate thing!"
Apart from this, the results are looking good in Triplat's eyes. "The power test showed excellent results. They were done after he had just two training sessions on roller skis. Compared to the last test which was conducted in October last year, the results were much better. If this trend goes on, we will be very happy."
Though the Summer Grand Prix is slowly but surely coming closer, there will be no specific preparations for these competitions to continue last year's approach which meant very good results for the Slovenian starters. "Of course it would be a pleasure to have good summer results again but the winter is definitely the main focus", Triplat sums up.
