The Austrian team who is currently also having the last training camp in Lillehammer held its test competition for the last open four spots on the World Cup team today. The four old-hands Willi Denifl, Christoph Bieler, Mario Stecher and Summer Grand Prix winner Berni Gruber had their fixed start rights even before the competitions.

In an impressive performance Gruber showed that he is right on track in bringing his good shape from the summer over to the winter. Mario Stecher came in third, Willi Denifl seventh. Due to an illness, Christoph Bieler could not participate in the test competition and is currently resting to get fit again in time for the season opening.

The four open start places go to the young guns Lukas Klapfer, who finished second, Tobias Kammerlander (4.), Marco Pichlmayer (5.) and Tomasz Druml (6.) who seems to have fully recovered from his fall during the Summer Grand Prix in Oberstdorf.

Winner Berni Gruber draws a positive conclusion at the end of the training camp:"I have started the week mediocrely because I still had some coordination problems in my jumping. In  the end, I was able to deal with it and come back to my ususal jumping performance. I feel very good on the cross-country track and am very much looking forward to starting the competitions. The whole team is in a very good mood and the team spirit is strong as we have been able to work very well. This will be very important especially in regards to the World Championships in Val di Fiemme."
