Tim Hug is the old and new Swiss national summer champion. At the national championships, which took place in conjunction with the ones in ski jumping at the new Nordic centre of Kandersteg, Hug dominated his four opponents already on the jumping hill.

120.5 points meant a clear lead of 46 seconds at the beginning of the cross-country part which was held as a running race at the hill complex.109 points from the jumping hill put Mario Anderegg in the second position, followed by Adrian Künzi, Elias Dietrich and Martin Rolli who all started over 7 minutes behind Hug.

The running race did not change anything in this setup and so it was Hug who crossed the finish line first, also setting the fastest running time of 23:09.8. Anderegg finished one minute and 45 seconds behind Hug, the other three athletes were seven minutes, +10:44.9 and +10:59.8 behind Hug.
