Universiade: Title for Shimizu

In the mass start competition at the Universiade, Japanese Aguri Shimizu was 56 seconds behind in the 10 km race. On the HS 109 hill he was already in the lead after the first jump and with two jumps on 103 m he clearly won the Gold medal in Erzurum. He was followed by Poland's Tomasz Pochwala (9th after the race, 98.5 m/100.5m) and Tommy Schmid from Switzerland (12th after the race, 102m/99.5m).


The fastest in the cross country race was Steffen Tepel (GER), he then jumped 93 m and 95 m and missed the third place by only 1.5 points.
