It was Sprint Day at the FIS Youth Cup in Harrachov today and the result list did look a little bit like yesterday’s results with the exception of Austrian Manuel Einkemmer stepping up in the category Youth I boys. Einkemmer beat out Finland’s Otto Niittykoski for the top spot, yesterday’s winner and local hero Petr Sablatura finished third, 28 seconds after the winner.

Einkemmer laid the foundation for his victory in a very solid jump of 70 metres on Harachov’s K 70 jumping hill and won the jumping part of the event with 114.5 points. In the race, he held on to his pole position by hair’s breadth. Fifth-placed Otto Niittykoski was on the hunt and with the fastest time on the track (05:36.2) he almost had Einkemmer by the time the finish came and just crossed the line a second later.

In the ladies’ categories, Timna Moser and Lise Eder reigned supreme again. Both won their jumping events, Eder with 64 metres (96.6 p.) and Moser with 64 metres and 96.6 points. In the race, Eder distanced Jenny Nowak from Germany to a time behind of 40 seconds and Annemarie Bendi conquered the third spot on the podium again for Estonia, finishing 55 seconds after Eder.

In Moser’s category, the Norwegian ladies stepped up their game, placing Karoline Skadtvedt and Mari Leinan Lund on the podium but both finished a whopping one minute and 53 and 54 seconds after Moser.

Czech Republic’s Jan Vytrval delighted the home crowd with the final victory of the day in the category Youth II boys. The older boys skied 5 kilometres after Vytrval had already won the jumping event with 71 metres and 117.9 points. He was followed by his teammate David Zemek who landed at 70 metres and defended his second rank until the finish, crossing the line 18 seconds behind Vytrval. The third rank in this category wen to Finland’s Mikko Hulkko. He overtook his teammate Henri Kavilo on the track, skiing from a fourth position after the jumping event to rank three with a time behind of 28 seconds in the finish.
