Andreas Wank (GER) won the qualification for the FIS Grand Prix 2016 in Hinterzarten (GER) on Friday evening.

A jump on 101 m was enough for Wank to take the qualification win on the HS 108 "Adlerschanze" in Hinterzarten ahead of Czech Tomas Vancura and Karl Geiger of Germany.

All in all the team of Germany showed a convincing performance. Besides Wank and Geiger, also Markus Eisenbichler (5th), David Siegel (7th) and Richard Freitag (9th) were in the Top 10. Stephan Leyhe in 12th completed the great result in this qualification and so the team made this evening in Hinterzarten a nice one for head coach Werner Schuster.

Andreas Wellinger was already pre-qualified and also presented himself in a good shape.

The team of Poland also has to be reckoned with in Saturday's competition. Overall leader Maciej Kot and double Olympic champion Kamil Stoch (both pre-qualified) showed strong jumps. Dawid Kubacki came in fourth in the qualification and completed the strong performance of the Polish team.

Tom Hilde on his way back to the top

Norway's Tom Hilde showed a positive trend and finished 14th, but the best of the Norwegians was young Halvor Egner Granerud in seventh.

The two Italians Davide Bresadola and Sebastian Colloredo made their first appearance under their new head coach Lukasz Kruczek. While Sebastian Colloredo managed to qualify for the competition in 26th, Davide Bresadola, who had some strong jumps in training, was disqualified in the qualification because his suit did not meet the rules.

Severin Freund on the right track

Severin Freund is still not able to compete, after he had to undergo hip surgery in Munich after the last winter season.

"Severin is training, he feels no pain and can do a full exercise regimen again. He has a special training program, everything goes according to plan and he makes good progress. We hope that he will be completely fit again in fall and can then start jumping training again", team doctor Marc Dorfmueller told about the current situation of Severin Freund.

The competition in Hinterzarten will take place on Saturday at 8:00 pm CET.
