In opposite to the recent years, the currently best Austrian ski jumpers will be competing in the opening events of the FIS Grand Prix.

Six athletes (Gregor Schlierenzauer, Thomas Diethart, Stefan Kraft, Michael Hayboeck, Manuel Fettner und Manuel Poppinger) will travel to Poland together with the new head coach Heinz Kuttin on Wednesday.

"Of course I'm looking forward to the first competitions. A competition is always exciting for the athletes and also for the coaches. We are hoping for good results, but our main focus is still the working process. Our goal is to implement what we are working on individually also in the competition", said the 43-year-old.

Like his coach, also Gregor Schlierenzauer considers the Grand Prix an important indicator. "A competition is the best training. I want to see where I stand regarding my technique", he told the Austrian newspaper "Kronen Zeitung".

After the two competitions in Wisla on Friday and Saturdday, the Austrian team will stay in Poland until the end of next week to also train in Zakopane and Szczyrk. Andreas Kofler and Thomas Morgenstern will also take part in this training camp.
