COC: David Siegel wins in Vikersund

Junior World Champion David Siegel was the best in Saturday's Continental Cup competition in Vikersund.

After a for him disappointing first event on Friday in which he was only 37th, the 19-year-old German showed the longest jumps in both rounds in this weekend's second competition with 118 m and 119 m and took the win with 275.4 points.

The two Norwegians Tom Hilde and Halvor Egner Granerud repeated their strong performances from the day before and with that also their results. Hilde finished second again with 115.5 m and 116 m and 270.5 points, Granerud was third with 115.5 m and 114.5 m and 263.4 points.

Also Czech Tomas Vancura repeated his result from Friday evening in fourth. Markus Eisenbichler of Germany, who was only 22nd in the first competition due to a fall, came in on a good fifth place this time.

Behind the two Austrians Clemens Aigner (6th) and Thomas Hofer (7th), another athlete of the Czech team achieved a top result with Viktor Polasek in eighth.

With Norway's Robert Johansson, Naoki Nakamura of Japan and Johansson's teammate Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng three athletes tied for ninth. For Rok Justin of Slovenia, the winner of Friday's competition, finished 13th, behind Markus Schiffner (12th).

Before the final two competitions of the season next weekend in Chaikovsky (RUS), Clemens Aigner leads the overall ranking with 765 points. Tom Hilde (718 points) and Karl Geiger (574 points) follow in second and third.
