Before Christmas the athletes of the Continental Cup traveled to the far north of Finland where two competitions will be held this weekend on the normal hill in Rovaniemi.

The win in the first competition on Saturday, that had to be postponed from noon to the evening due to problems with the inrun track, went to Germany's Karl Geiger. The 22-year-old from Oberstdorf took his fourth win in the COC, the first since September 2014, with 98 m and 99.5 m and 266.2 points.

The second place went to Norwegian Fredrik Bjerkeengen with jumps on 96.5 m and 96 m and 253.6 points. His teammate Halvor Egner Granerud, with 96 m sixth after the first round, came in third overall with a strong final jump on 97 m and 253.1 points.

Austria's Clemens Aigner finished fourth, closely followed by Miran Zupancic of Slovenia, who was on route to the podium after the first round when he was second behind Karl Geiger.

Bartlomiej Klusek of Poland was sixth, the seventh place went to Slovene Rok Justin. Austrian Elias Tollinger and the 19-year-old Germany's David Siegel tied for eighth. For the young German this was a career-best result.

Tilen Bartol, who won two out of three competitions in Rena (NOR) last weekend, completed the Top 10 in this event.

With this result the Slovene defended his lead in the overall ranking with now 286 points. He is followed by Halvor Egner Granerud (260 points) and Karl Geiger (225 points).
