Joachim Hauer of Norway took the win in the first competition at the Continental Cup in Klingenthal (GER) on Saturday.

The 26-year-old had the longest jump in both rounds in the Vogtland-Arena with 134 m and 134.5 m and secured his first ever win in the COC with 252.2 points. And that only a week after he could celebrate his first podium result in over two years as third in Rasnov (ROU). "It's an amazing day for me. After a pretty tough year it's nice to be on the podium and finally get the first win", said the Norwegian.

Tilen Bartol of Slovenia came in second with two jumps of 128.5 m and 247.2 points. "I'm happy about the result, but I still need to improve my jumps. Tomorrow is a new day."

His teammate Domen Prevc was third and achieved his first podium finish this season with 129.5 m and 130 m and 242.0 points. "It was hard today. The conditions weren't really good for Ski Jumping and I'm very happy that I was on the podium, even under these conditions", said Domen Prevc.

The outstanding result of the Slovenes was completed by Andraz Pograjc in fifth and Timi Zajc in eighth.

The German team also showed a strong performance in front of the home crowd. Their best was Moritz Baer, who finished on a career-best fourth place today. Markus Eisenbichler (7th), Richard Freitag (9th), Pius Paschke (10th), Felix Hoffmann (11th) and Justin Lisso (13th) provided a very good team result for the Germans.

The biggest improvement in the final was made by Vincent Descombes Sevoie of France. He was only 18th after the first round and with a great second jump of 133 m he could move up to sixth overall.

His 12th place today earned Poland's Klemens Muranka the first place in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup in summer 2017 already before the final event on Sunday. With 671 points he leads ahead of Pius Paschke (562 points) and Tilen Bartol (527 points).

The second competition in Klingenthal will be held on Sunday at 10:00 am CET.
