COC-M: Second win for Karl Geiger
The COC weekend in Brotterode (GER) was more than successful for Karl Geiger. The German won the first competition on Friday, finished second on Saturday and in the final event on Sunday evening he stood on top of the podium again.
The 21-year-old of Oberstdorf was third after the first round with 112.5 m, he then secured his second win with a jump on the same distance of 112.5 m and 260.0 points. "The hill in Brotterode suits me and it was very well prepared. I'm in a good shape right now", told Geiger.
Matjaz Pungertar was the best after the first round with 116.5 m, but he only had a lead of 0.2 points over Geiger and with his second jump on 109 m he was not able to defend it. The Slovene came in second with 253.8 points.
Daniel Huber of Austria achieved his first podium result in the COC on Saturday and he was able to repeat this performance on Sunday. 109.5 m and 110.5 m (252.0 points) earned him the third place. "I'm very satisfied with this weekend. Despite the rain and snow showers the conditions were perfect for the athletes."
Nejc Dezman of Slovenia showed the longest jump of the day with 118.5 m in the final round and moved up from 13th to fourth.
Like already on the day before, Atle Petersen Roensen was again the best of the Norwegians in fifth. Rok Justin followed close behind in sixth and was the third Slovene among the best in this competition.
Austrian Manuel Fettner, who won Saturday's competition, finished seveth. Jan Maylaender of Germany repeated his eighth place of the day before.
Behind Stefan Kraft of Austria (9th) and Finland's Lauri Asikainen (10th), Michael Neumayer was eleventh. This was the best result of the weekend for hte German veteran after a 15th and 20th place on Friday and Saturday.
Nejc Dezman defended his overall lead in the COC this weekend in Brotterode with a total of 675 points. Karl Geiger is second (579 points), Manuel Fettner follows in third (543 points).
