COC: Tilen Bartol the best again
After the first two competitions were held on the normal hill at the Continental Cup in Rena, this weekend's final competition took place on the large hill (HS 139). And Tilen Bartol proved, that he can jump really well on any hill.
On Saturday the 18-year-old Slovene took his first win in the COC and on Sunday he was the best again. With 130.5 m, the athlete from Ljubljana was only seventh after the first round, a great final jump on 140 m and a total of 274.2 points he secured his second win in a row.
Poland's Andrzej Stekala had a weekend full of ups and downs in Rena. On Friday he won the season's first competition, followed by a disqualification on Saturday, on Sunday he showed a strong performance again and finished second with 132 m and 136 m (264.9 points).
Karl Geiger, eighth after the first round, came in third with his jumps on 134 m and 133 m and 264.6 points and took the first podium result for Germany in this new COC season. Only 0.3 points behind, Geiger's teammate Pius Paschke finished fourth.
Canadian Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes showed consistent and strong performances this weekend. After he was fifth and fourth in the first two events in Rena, he came in fifth again on Sunday.
Once again Halvor Egner Granerud was the best of the Norwegians. But after two podium results, the 19-year-old, who was in the lead after the first round, had to be satisfied with a sixth place today.
The two Slovenes Andraz Pograjc and Tomaz Naglic were seventh and eighth, followed by the best Austrian, Florian Altenburger, and the German veteran Michael Neumayer.
Tilen Bartol now leads the overall ranking of the COC with 260 points, ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud (200 points) and Andrzej Stekala (180 points).
