COC-M: Tomasz Pilch claims the win in Ruka

In the first of two Continental Cup competitions in Ruka (FIN), Polish youngster Tomasz Pilch celebrated already his second win this season.

The 17-year-old, who stood on top of the podium for the first time in the season opener in Whistler (CAN) last weekend, presented himself in a great shape also in the far north of Finland. After 131.5 m in the first round, he showed the longest jump of the day on 143.5 m in the final and moved up from seventh to first (298.3 points.

Behind the winner, the Slovenes convinced with an extremely strong team performance. Nejc Dezman finished second with jumps of 134.5 m and 136.5 m and a total of 293.8 points. Ziga Jelar, seventh after the first half of the competition with 135 m, secured his spot on the podium with 142.5 m in the final round and 293.7 points. 

Jurij Tepes completed the outstanding result of the Slovenian team in fourth, only one point behind the podium. Tepes, who failed to qualify for the competitions in the World Cups in Wisla and Ruka this season, was jumping strong today and was even in the lead after the first round with a 143 m jump. With Tomaz Naglic in eighth, a fourth jumper from Slovenia was in the Top 10. 

The Austrians also showed a very good performance today. Florian Altenburger, Thomas Lackner and Philipp Aschenwald came in fifth, sixth and seventh on Saturday.

Cestmir Kozisek of the Czech Republic was ninth, the tenth place went to Norway's Mats Bjerke Myhren. Best German was Andreas Wank, who moved up from 22nd to eleventh in the second round.

Tomasz Pilch now leads the overall ranking of the COC with 236 points, followed by Andreas Wank (156 points) and Philipp Aschenwald (148 points).
