COC-L: Windmueller wins in Notodden
The Ladies' Continental Cup consists only of two competitions this season, both of them are held this weekend in Notodden (NOR).
And it was not an easy start in the winter on Friday evening. The competition had to be restarted after 17 of the 24 competitors and falls of the two Germans Ulrike Graessler and Sophia Goerlich. The whole German team then decided not to participate in the first round after a short break.
The win went to Swiss Sabrina Windmueller. With 92.5 m, the 28-year-old was second after the first round, a jump on 91.5 m in the final and a total of 229.0 points then earned her the first win in the COC.
Julia Huber of Austria was leading only 0.5 points ahead of Windmueller after her first jump on 93.5 m, but with 91.5 m in the second round and 228.0 points she closely missed the win this evening. But still the 17-year-old could celebrate her first podium finish in this competition series.
The third place went to local hero Anna Odine Stroem with jumps on 91 m and 88.5 m and 217.0 points.
In her first appearance in the Continental Cup, young Austrian Claudia Purker came in on a very good fourth place, followed by Silje Opseth of Norway and Russian Lidiia Iakovleva.
Susanna Forsstroem of Finland and Norway's Tonje Bakke tied for seventh. Austria's Julia Grabner and Oceane Avocat Gros of France completed the Top 10.
Sabrina Windmueller: "The hill is in a great conditions, it's fun jumping here. I want to wish Ulrike and Sophia all the best. It's a pity that they fell."
Julia Huber: "The hill was in a very good condition and I could show good jumps. Unfortunately Sophia and Ulrike fell. I wish them all the best."
Claudia Purker: "The people did their best to carry out a perfect competition. I wish Ulrike and Sophia all the best and hope that they'll come back even stronger."
