So far Siegel qualified for the final round of a World Cup competition twice, he was 16th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and 17th in Sapporo 2016.

"I didn't expect that, especially if you strong athletes like Domen Prevc, who already showed such strong performances in the World Cup are competing. I knew that I'm in a good shape, but I didn't think that it would be enough to finish on top", Siegel said after win.

For Domen Prevc, younger brother of World Cup leader Peter Prevc, the second place was also a success. "I'm satisfied with the second place today. Unfortunately I was not able to show my best performance, but a second place in Junior World Championships is a great success for mi", Domen Prevc told.

It was a great effort of the organizers to prepare the hill for the competition under mild temperatures. A ladies' individual competition, a mixed and a team event will still take place during this WJC.
