FIS meetings in Zurich - No World Cup in Nizhny Tagil
This news came as a blow at the FIS fall meetings in Zurich (SUI). The already completed calendar for the 2016/17 World Cup winter has to be changed only about two months before the start of the season.
Due to the fact that the organizers of the men's and ladies' ski jumping competitions on December 10th and 11th, 2016 in Nizhny Tagil (RUS) did not meet the requirements of the FIS (a wind net has not been installed so far) and didn't pay the entire prize money of past competitions to the athletes on time, the four competitions were canceled.
The International Ski Federation FIS will announce shortly if the competitions will be moved to another venue.
UPDATE: After a crisis meeting, in which also Dmitrii Dubrovskii, President of Federation of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined of Russia, and FIS Race Director Walter Hofer took part, it was decided on September 29th that Nizhny Tagil will remain in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup calendar at the originally planned date. But only the two ladies' competitions will take place there. The men's competitions will definitely not be held in Nizhny Tagil. The International Ski Federation will communicate shortly if and when the two men's competitions will be held at another venue.
