Jonathan Learoyd and Julia Clair win French nationals
Jonathan Learoyd and Julia Clair won the titles at the French national championships on Friday in Premanon.
The only 17-year-old Jonathan Learoyd, who attracted attention with some good performances during this past winter season, won the competition on the HS 90 hill with a jump of 93.5 m and 134.2 points.
Ronan Lamy Chappuis and Thomas Roch Dupland tied for second, both jumped on 89 m and scored a total of 125.7 points.
Nordic combined skier Maxime Laheurte finished fourth, close behind the podium, Kilian Peier of Switzerland and Laurent Muhlethaler tied for fifth.
The ladies' competition was won by Julia Clair with 84 m and 117.5 points. Lucile Morat (86 m and 116.0 points) and Lea Lemare (85 m and 115.0 points) followed in second and third.
Coline Mattel retires
Coline Mattel, who did not take part in this competition, announced her retirement a day earlier. During her career, the 23-year-old took two wins in the World Cup and won the bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi and at the World Championships 2011 in Oslo.
"I decided to end my ski jumping career. It wasn't an easy decision but after 15 years of jumping and 11 of international competitions, I think I've reached the end of my story as an athlete", she writes on facebook.
