The second place went to Russia's Dimitry Vassiliev with 199.5 m and 172.6 points. Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang came in third with 193 m and 171.1 points.

Freund sets hill record

Ski flying World Champion Severin Freund provided the highlight of the day earlier in training. The German improved the hill record to now 237.5 m. “If you have such conditions and can really fly, then this hill is a lot of fun”, Freund said to Berkutschi and added: “In the first round I quite a lot of tail wind, then it's more difficult. I don't think that a world record is possible, we should focus on showing nice flights.”

Besides Tepes, also Anders Jacobsen, Antonin Hajek and Daiki Ito jumped over the 200 m mark in the qualification. Jacobsen was fourth with 201 m and 168.5 points, 1.1 point behind Hajek followed in fifth with 204.5 m. Ito jumped on 201 m and finished seventh. French Vincent Descombes Sevoie and Ronan Lamy Chappuis presented themselves surprisingly strong and came in sixth and tenth with 197.5 m and 196.5 m. German veteran Michael Neumayer was eighth with 189 m, followed by Austrian Manuel Poppinger with 193.5 m.

Good performance of small Polish team

The only two Polish athletes, Aleksander Zniszczol and Piotr Zyla were 11th and 12th, Gregor Deschwanden was 14th, behind Taku Takeuchi. Robert Kranjec, ski flying World Champion 2012, finished 16th.
