JWSC: Clear win for Nika Kriznar

Slovenia's Nika Kriznar took a clear win at the Ski Jumping Junior World Championships in Kandersteg (SUI) on Friday.

The 17-year-old had already shown the longest jump of the day in the first round with 104 m, she then claimed the win and the gold medal with a 100 m jump in the final and 262.6 points.

Ema Klinec came in second with 102 m and 94 m and secured the 1-2 finish for the Slovenian team with 248.3 points. Ema Klinec and Nika Kriznar were also in the Top 3 of the last Junior World Championships in Park City (USA) a year ago, when they finished second and third behind Italian Manuela Malsiner.

The third place on the podium this afternoon went to Anna Odine Stroem of Norway with 97 m and 93 m and a total of 231.7 points.

Lucile Morat of France came in fourth, close behind the best three, Italy's Lara Malsiner was fifth on the HS 106 hill in Kandersteg.

The best German in this competition, which was held a day later than originally planned due to the weather conditions. was Gianina Ernst in sixth. She was followed by the best Russian athlete, Lidiia Iakovleva, in seventh. 

Jerneja Brecl completed a strong team result for the Slovenes with her eighth place, Sofia Tikhonova of Russia and Luisa Goerlich of Germany came in ninth and tenth.
