Lukasz Kruczek, who resigned as head coach of the Polish team after last season, will be the new coach of the Italian ski jumpers.

Kruczek, who was voted "Coach of the Year" in Poland 2013 and 2014, was coaching the national team of his home country from 2008 to 2016. During this time Kamil Stoch won two Olympic gold medals in Sochi and the overall World Cup title.

Now the 40-year-old shall help building a successful team in Italy, as the Italian Ski Association (FISI) writes on its website. "With his professionalism and know-how we want to restructure the men's team after a difficult season. The goal now is to have a competitive team again as soon as possible."

Last winter Sebastian Colloredo was the only Italian jumper who could score World Cup points. His best result was a 24th place in Nizhny Tagil in December.
