Manuel Fettner wins national title in Bischofshofen

Manuel Fettner took the title at the Austrian large hill championships in Bischofshofen on Thursday.

The 31-year-old of Tyrol laid the foundation for this win already with his first jump on 138 m. In the second round he defended the top position with 139 m and took the win with 284.7 points. "This win was definitely a surprise for me. I'm very satisfied and more than happy that everything worked so well for me. My shape is getting better and better", said the winner.

Stefan Kraft, with 131 m third after the first round, showed the longest jump of the day with 139.5 m in the final and moved up to second with his total of 274.2 points.

After half of the competition on the Paul-Ausserleitner-hill, Michael Hayboeck was second behind Manuel Fettner, at the end his jumps of 134.5 m and 139 m earned him 273.7 points and the third place overall.

The fourth place went to Clemens Aigner, followed by Andreas Kofler, Janni Reisenauer and Elias Tollinger.

The Austrian national championships will continue in Eisenerz, where the normal hill competitions will be held on Friday (team) and Saturday (individual, ladies and men).
