Austria's Manuel Poppinger has torn the ACL in his left knee in a jump during a training camp in Planica on Wednesday.

"Manuel approached the landing normally, but as soon as he landed, the knee gave out and he fell. We will now start the rehabilitation and therapy as soon as possible and hope for a positive and fast recovery process", Klaus Ullmann, physical therapist of the Austrian team, is quoted in a media release of the Austrian Ski Association.

The 27-year-old underwent surgery in Hochrum already on Thursday. "The surgery went well and there were no complications. The ACL and the meniscus were treated surgically. Manuel Poppinger can probably leave the hospital again on Saturday", said the surgeon performing the operation, Dr. Christian Hoser.
