Rune Velta experienced the ups and downs of elite sports recently. After a amazing 2014/15 season, he was not able to follow up these great performances last winter.

At the World Championships in Falun 2015 the Norwegian won four medals, among them gold on the normal hill and with the team. In the past season he was mainly competing in the Continental Cup and achieved his best World Cup result as 37th at the opening in Klingenthal.

"It's very frustrating, I'm not happy about this situation. You get angry, you get disappointed, it's hard sometimes", the 26-year-old told Norwegian TV channel NRK.

As a reason for his bad performances last winter, due to which he lost his spot on the national team, Rune Velta mentions problems at the take-off. "It took a while until it became clear to me what the problem was. I think it should be possible to fix this. What makes it difficult is the fact that there's almost no time and the speed is high."

The past success no serves as an additional motivation for Rune Velta. "Becoming World Champion is a fantastic experience that you would like to have again."
