Sami Niemi and Katja Pozun win Gold at the Universiade

On Saturday evening Finland's Sami Niemi and Katja Pozun of Slovenia won the gold medals in ski jumping at the Winter Universiade in Trentino (ITA).

Sami Niemi, with 102.5 m second behind Poland's Bartlomiej Klusek after the first round, took the win and the Gold with 100 m in the final and a total of 270.3 points. Klusek jumped only on 88.5 m in the second round and finished seventh.

"The competition was very tough with many World Cup athletes," Niemi said to 

The silver medal went to Krzysztof Biegun, who already got the wear the Yellow Bib in the World Cup this season. The Pole showed jumps on 100 m and 101.5 m (267.2 points). Russia's Mikhail Maksimochkin came in third with 102 m and 99 m (265.8 points). 

The win in the ladies' competition went to Katja Pozun, who was, like Niemi, second after the first round, with jumps on 100 m and 102 m and 261.0 points. "I'm very proud and happy about this victory but I made some mistakes. I know I can do even better", said the Slovene. 

The second and third place went to the leader after the first round, Michaela Dolezelova of the Czech Republic, with 102.5 m and 96.5 m (250.5 points) and Russian Irina Avvakumova with 245.3 points (96.5 m and 101.5 m).
