Sara Takanashi also wins the final event
Sara Takanashi won the final event of the ladies' World Cup in Planica and took her 15th win in the 18th competition this season.
With 135 m and 132.5 m she scored 271.6 points and once again had a big lead over the rest of the field. Yuki Ito came in second with jumps on 128.5 m and 125 m and provided the third double victory in a row for Japan with 244.9 points.
First podium for Julia Clair
Julia Clair was third with 131.5 m and 124 m and she achieved her first podium in the World Cup 5.6 points behind Ito. Line Jahr, eleventh after the first round, moved up to fourth with 232.6 points (122 m and 126.5 m). This is her best result this season. Jessica Jerome of the USA came in fifth, 0.6 points behind the Norwegian. Maja Vtic of Slovenia and Germany's Ulrike Graessler shared the sixth place weith 227.5 points. Anna Haefele was eighth with 224.8 points, Maren Lundby (222.8 points) and Irina Avvakumova (219.7 points) completed the Top 10.
Iraschko-Stolz and Vogt not competing
Behind Katja Pozun, Coline Mattel was 12th. The French was the only medalist of the Olympics in Sochi who was competing today. Olympic Champion Carina Vogt and silver medalist Daniela Iraschko-Stolz could not jump due to injuries. So Chiara Hoelzl was the best Austrian in Planica in 13th. French Lea Lemare was 14th, best Italian was once again Evelyn Insam in 15th. Julia Kykkaenen of Finland was 16th. The only Czech competitor, Michaela Dolezelova was 26th, young Slovene Anja Javorsek could score World Cup points in 29th.
Triple victory for Japan
Sara Takanashi won the overall World Cup title with 1720 points. Olympic Champion Carina Vogt follows in second with 806 points. The third place went to Yuki Ito with 759 points, she is 28 points ahead of Irina Avvakumova. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz is fifth with 682 points.
With 2981 points the Japanese team also won the Nation's Cup. Germany and Slovenia follow in second and third.
