Spela Rogelj wins qualification
Spela Rogelj wins the qualifications of the first individual competition of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Ladies in Zao. The Slovene stayed ahead of Julia Clair and Elena Runggaldier with a jump of 93,0 metres and 103,2 points.
Clair finished with the same distance of 93,0 metres and 101,0 points. Elena Runggaldier finished third with 92,0 metres and 100,5 points.
World Champion Carina Vogt jumped to 92,0 metres and finished fourth with 99,3 points. She was followed by Ursa Bogataj with the same distance and by 0,6 points difference.
Kaori Iwabuchi was the best Japanese of the qualification with 98,8 points, finishing sixth. She stayed ahead of Canada´s Taylor Henrich by 0,4 points in seventh place. Juliane Seyfarth and Irina Avvakumova both finished eight with 96,9 points each. They were followed by Yuka Seto by only 0,1 point.
Nita Englund was the best jumper of the US-team today, finishing 12th, following Sofia Tikhonova. Elisabeth Raudaschl, Svenja Würth and Gianina Ernst completed the the top 15. Daniela Haralambie is qualified with finishing 19th as well as Czech´s Zdenka Pesatova in 20th place. The Finn Julia Kykkänen and China´s Xueyao Li are also qualified for Friday with finishing 22nd and 26th. Sabrina Windmüller has the chance to get World Cup points for Switzerland, with finishing 29th in the qualification.
From the pre-qualified athletes Maja Vtic showed the widest jump of the day with 100,0 metres and Maren Lundby jumped to 98,5 metres. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz gained self-confidence with a jump to 98,0 metres. Sara Takanashi jumped to 97,0 metres with a shorter starting gate.
The competition on Friday in Zao starts at 9 am (CET).
