Tom Hilde first winner in new Nordic Arena

Almost exactly two years after the groundbreaking ceremony, the Nordic Arena in Kandersteg (SUI) was now opened with two-day celebration.

On Sunday and Monday various youth competitions were held in the new training center, that consists of three hills (HS 27, HS 72 and HS 108). Highlight of the festivities was then the international opening competition on Monday evening.

Besides the best Swiss ski jumpers, around the four-time Olympic Champion Simon Ammann, also the teams of Norway and Austria stopped by in Kandersteg on their way from Hinterzarten to Einsiedeln and participated in this event.

The win went to Tom Hilde of Norway with 101 m and 103 m and 253.5 points. Close behind the winner, Austria's Michael Hayboeck came in second with 103 m and 100 m (252.0 points), his teammate Philipp Aschenwald, who showed jumps of 102.5 m and 100 m (250.0 points), finished third.

Best Swiss was Kilian Peier in fourth, followed by Simon Ammann in fifth.
