Born February 5th, 1986, into a family totally being hooked to horses, Janne spent a lot of time racing the family's stable of 40 horses in Nummela, a small town close to the Finnish capital.
But unlike following the footsteps of his father Pekka, one of the most famous harness racers in Finland, he chose to do like his brother did: switching the focus on snowboarding.
Just a few years later, after competing against the best kids around the world, he burst onto the scene in 2005. He singled himself out for special attention when claiming the FIS Junior World Championship title in the halfpipe.
The first title brought the first major sponsor deal while his snowboarding career has been on a sharp upward curve thanks to his enormous talent and competitive attitude.
Although he already had to face some serious injuries he always found his way back into the world's top thus being honoured to represent his country at the 2006 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Over the past years, Janne has added several wins and podiums to his remarkable record list in halfpipe, slopestyle and big air competitions.
In addition, the rider stemming from Vihti locked in Bronze in the big air competition of the 2007 World Championships in Arosa, Switzerland as well as another Bronze in the slopestyle at the 2013 World Championships in Quebec.
Still being in his 20's, the two-time Freestyle Snowboard World Cup winner (2012 and 2013) is a rider to look out for no matter if he drops in a big air in-run, a slopestyle course or a halfpipe - although he admits with a wink that he won't ever be capable of learning a McTwist.
