Ekaterina Tudegesheva (RUS) and Rok Marguc (SLO) took home Gold in the sixth and thus last event of the 10th FIS Snowboard World Championships today which were staged in Stoneham and Quebec City, Canada, over the course of the last two weeks. It was the first medal for Slovenia at this season's major event which just concluded a few hours ago.

Marguc crowned his strong performance on a tough and also challenging, partly icy course by just catching up on and finally passing Justin Reiter (USA) on the last gates of the men's final.

I'm very, very happy to bring home the title. I was hoping for a mistake of Justin (Reiter) in the finals. I fought and now I have Gold,” said Marguc.

Reiter on the other hand, knew exactly why things turned out against him, just being so close to clinching the title.

I did my only mistake in my final run. When I was coming to the last knoll, I heard him. And got distracted.

This course didn't allow any mistakes. I took advantage of a mistake in my semis against Fischnaller. In the finals, I was the one with the mistake.”

But at the end of the day, Silver also equalled the best result of his career.

I couldn't be more happy. I'm glad and proud of what I have achieved, especially as I have no team support. I'm my own wax tech, my own physio and my own coach. To medal here and share the podium with these guys is an honour,” explained Reiter.

However, the honour of travelling as a World Champion to the next World Cup stop is now the one of Marguc, who couldn't have made it any better.

I'm happy to travel as World Champion to the next Parallel World Cup stop which takes place in my home resort at Rogla on February 8,” summed up Marguc, who now owns a complete colour set of World Championships medals after having earned Silver (PGS) and Bronze (PSL) in La Molina, Spain, two years ago.

Roland Fischnaller (ITA) rounded out the podium as third thus earning his second medal within two days after Silver in the PGS.

Gold #2 for Tudegesheva

In the women's final, Tudegesheva, the 2007 Parallel Giant Slalom World Champion, edged off 2012 Parallel World Cup title winner Patrizia Kummer (SUI) to the second spot.

Bringing home her career's third WCS medal after also having won Bronze in the PSL 2009, she finally raked the profits of some hard work.

My last World Cup results haven't been that good. I was just focusing on the World Championships. I'm very happy that it worked out in the final race.”

Kummer, who also took a Bronze medal in Korea 2009 (PGS) was also pleased with the result.

I'm glad that I was able to prove everybody that I can still do it after my last season was so good.

I'm overwhelmed to earn another medal after four years again. It's indescribable.”

Amelie Kober (GER) carved to Bronze, just like two days ago in the PGS race.
