Darren Gardner has claimed both alpine snowboard titles at the Canadian speed nationals staged during the Nor-Am Cup in Ski Chantecler over the course of the last days.

The Calgary native came out successful of both races winning the parallel giant slalom final duel against Bong-shik Shin (KOR).

In the the parallel slalom the World Cup racer came out successful out of the battle versus Sebastien Beaulieu who therefore defended his comfortable lead in the Nor-Am Cup standings over the new Canadian champion and should be safe of wrapping up the North American season in style with only two more races (pgs and psl) scheduled in Copper Mountain, CO on April 4th and 5th.

On the women's side of things, Katrina Gerencser became the pgs champion finishing the competition as fifth and therefore best ranked Canadian while Chinese shredders Ruxin Zang, Naiying Gong, Jiaqi Niu and Xiaoxiao Xu took the top-4 spots underlining that there is quite some raceboard talent in China which has only been known for its strong and deep halfpipe roster so far.

The psl Nor-Am Cup race also provided a Chinese podium swept led by Zang with Megan Farrell taking the Canadian title finishing in fifth position.

Farrell should therefore also be all set in the race for the Nor-Am title having quite a lead over her strongest pursuer Marianne Laurin-Lalonde who has only theoretical chances to edge off her teammate from the hot seat.
