Some cycle, some do some kite surfing – and some others go for a hike to prepare for the next winter season. In case of the German National Team a pretty long one.

The team which included 2014 Olympic medallists Amelie Kober and Anke Karstens as well as their Sochi team mates Stefan Baumeister and Alexander Bergmann was led by Head Coach Andi Scheid who had decided to cross the Karwendel.

In four tough stages.

On the first day, the squad climbed from Vorderriss to Soiernhütte. On the second day, they passed the Soiernspitze, the Karwendelhaus and stayed overnight in the Falkenhütte.

The third stage brought a long walk to Lamsenjochhütte from where the team first climbed the Lamsenspitze before wrapping things up at Achensee.

“It was long, tough but very nice,” said Alexander Bergmann. “We had a lot of fun and enjoyed some breathtaking panorama views. You don't get something like this every day, but I hope we can do it next year again!”
