Ochner does it again
One day after clinching the season's opener of the alpine snowboard Europa Cup tour in Landgraaf, Holland, Nadya Ochner has celebrated a back-to-back win.
In the SnowWorld Landgraaf, an indoor facility which provides perfect snow conditions on a 260 metres long race track, the South Tyrolean beat Olympic champion Patrizia Kummer capitalizing on the single run format when her Swiss rival made a race decisive mistake on her course.
Austria's Marion Kreiner rounded out the podium as third crossing the finish line .25 seconds ahead of Hilde-Katrine Engeli from Norway.
“It couldn’t have been any better for me. Winning two days in row is great,” said Ochner.
“Today was a good day again, and I was happy they changed the course setting a bit. There was more time today, and it was also good that it was a single format as my were still pretty tired from yesterday.”
In the men's competition, Friday's third ranked racer Andrey Sobolev (RUS) stepped up his game bringing home the victory in a nail-biting final against Lukas Mathies (AUT; + .23s).
His teammate Sebastian Kislinger (AUT) won the small final against Russia's Konstantin Shipilov.
“This is a good start of the season for me, and of course that is important,” explained reigning world champion Sobolev, who seems to be in shape for the Russian nationals end of November.
