Ulbing and Bormolini clinch Europa Cup title
Daniela Ulbing (AUT) and Maurizio Bormolini (ITA) have won the Parallel Europa Cup title race which came to an end with two parallel slaloms staged in Racines, Italy last weekend.
Ulbing secured her career's first title and personal spot on the 2016 World Cup tour with one sixth place finish as well as one win in the season's last two parallel slalom events.
Having accumulated a total of 3,050 she relegated her teammate Bernadette Ernst (2,400) and Swiss racer Yvonne Schuetz (2,311) to the second and third rank of the final Europa Cup standings, respectively.
Bormolini, who had placed 16th in the first race also won the season's Europa Cup final underlining that he took home the title more than deservedly.
With 3,720, the Italian racer finished the season ahead of Dario Caviezel (SUI, 3,465) who had had a strong finish but wasn't able to pass Bormolini in the battle for the title in the end.
However, the young Swiss was able to celebrate the win in the first parallel slalom on Saturday alongside his teammate and World Cup title winner Julie Zogg.
