Zogg and Lee clinch parallel EC title
Julie Zogg (SU) and Sang-ho Lee (KOR) have wrapped up the European Cup season as best ranked riders of the parallel standings.
A second rank finish behind of her teammate Ladina Jenny in the penultimate parallel slalom staged at Racines, Italy last weekend earned 23-year-old Zogg her career's first EC title with a total of 2,781 points.
A crash during her qualifier run in the grand finale won by by Russian rider Elizaveta Salikhova spoiled an even better result for the former World Cup champion.
Rank two and three of the final Europa Cup standings went to Jenny (2,571) and Ina Meschik from Austria (2,440) who had decided to leave out the Racines races going on holiday one week earlier than her rivals.
On the men's side of things, Lee kept the momentum from a second and third rank finish secured in Gerlitzen, Austria and Rogla, Slovenia.
The 2015 pgs junior world champion stormed to a win against Mirko Felicetti (ITA) and a second place behind Arvid Auner from Austria who celebrated his first career Europa Cup win in Racines last Sunday.
Thanks to 810 additional points earned on the European Cup's home stretch, Lee headed off Rok Marguc (SLO) who sat out the Easter weekend.
The Korean closed out the Europa Cup season with 2,625 points while Marguc had accumulated a total of 2,570 before racers went into the last two parallel slaloms of the season. Alex Payer (AUT, 2,500) finished in third position.
