And also this year, the Russian capital is up for some snowboard action - however, things will totally differ from previous seasons.
While riders were tackling either a scaffolding jump for a Big Air World Cup or a ramp/hill for some parallel raceboard duels, it's now time to bring snowboard cross to one of the most interesting mega cities of the world.

Katie Ormerod (GBR) and Vlad Khadarin (RUS) have claimed their respective career's first in today's penultimate big air World Cup of the 2016-17 season staged in the Krylatskoye Sports Centre right outside of downtown Moscow (RUS).
Although Moscow has been organising consecutive Snowboard World Cup events since 2005 - with the Olympic seasons of 2006 and 2014 being the only two exceptions - it has been more than seven years since snowboard fans have had the chance to watch some big air action in the Russian capital.
