The home team has taken it all. Well, almost. On the second day of the mid-week double snowboard cross Europa Cup tour stop on the Pitztal glacier, Austria riders from the hosting nation left no doubt who rules the roost.

Maria Ramberger and Hanno Douschan secured a much celebrated double victory for Austria with several other athletes impressing with top-10 results therefore underlining a very good early season form.

But it wasn't just the more than 60 female and more than 120 male competitors in the heats of four the racers had to deal with.

Due to stormy winds and snow fall organisers decided to shorten the course whilst still leaving enough room for some sbx action due to the track design which also featured a pretty narrow s-turn and therefore some crazy manoeuvres.

In the end, it was yesterday's third ranked Ramberger who was able to step up her game in the ladies' event relegating US girl Faye Gulini, Francesca Gallina (ITA) and Russia's Daria Matveeva to the second to fourth rank, respectively.

“It was a cool race, and I did well from the very first heat on. It was really cold but I had a fast board. All those signs make me feel confident of the World Cup opener in Montafon”, said Ramberger.

In the men's competition, Douschan brought home an impressive back-to-back win after winning all of his twelve (12!) heats of the last two days! The 26-year-old from Carinthia led a red-white-red podium sweep with Alessandro Haemmerle and Lukas Pachner placing second and third.

Australia's Matthew Thomas finished in fourth position.

“Today's race was almost the same like yesterday. I had super starts and got along without any mistakes. I hope I can keep the momentum till Montafon,” stated Douschan, the undisputed leader of the young 2015-16 Europa Cup ranking.

The World Cup season will get underway mid of December with the first two races on the Hochjoch/Seebliga including a team event.
