Gerber sidelined for coming winter
Sandra Gerber's season is over before it just begun! The Swiss snowboard cross athletes injured her right leg during an off-snow training exercise.
The 30 year-old from Zollbrueck, who finished the last season as sixth overall and therefore as best Swiss female sbx rider, broke her fibular in a skateboard accident.
The late entrant to World Cup racing (first ever World Cup event with 25) already underwent a successful surgery and has to sit out the next season as she will be walking around with a cast and crutches until January.
Doctors estimate a return on snow for March or April.
“I knew that my season was over right in the moment of the accident,” recalls Gerber her shocking moment knowing that the next months will be all about recovery in order to “be bounce back again.”
