Hughes looking forward to new season
Australia's SBX shooting star Jarryd Hughes is ready for the next winter, which he will enter without any physical handicaps.
Up until recently it was assumed he had finished the season injury free however the snowboard cross crack from down under did compete with an injury during the second half of the last season.
“Jarryd tore his ACL again mid season but he still competed at the Olympics, finished the World Cup season and competed at Junior Worlds. It was not made public as he did not need any additional pressure during such a big season”, explained his father Darren in an email chat.
When Hughes returned to Sydney in April he underwent surgery and has made it back on snow for the first time ever since his surgery this week which he is very happy about.
The 19-year-old young gun looks back on an outstanding season in which he not only made the national team for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi but also won his first ever World Cup event in Lake Louise, Canada while also finishing the season in fourth position of the World Cup ranking.
