It's been a long time for the snowboard cross racers until they heard their 'rider ready' sign the first time this season. Today, with the qualifiers for the first of two snowboard cross races in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, the FIS SBX World Cup season finally kicked off.

And it's been four-time world champion Lindsey Jacobellis (USA) and Norwegian champion Stian Sivertzen coming out of the start gates the fastest.

While Jacobellis posted a time of 1:04.60 taking the top qualifier spot ahead of Michela Moioli (ITA, 1:04.69) and Raffaella Brutto (ITA, 1:04.74), Sivertzen had a little bit more advantage on the men's side of things.

Bringing down a 1:00.27 he was the top qualifier with Alex Pullin (AUS, 1:00.56) and Mick Dierdorff (USA, 1:00.59) following as second and third.

Finals are scheduled for Saturday, March 14th, at 12 PM CET.

Eurosport 2, www.sportschau.de, ORF Sport+ as well as BNT HD will broadcast the knock-out rounds live.
