La Molina course reminiscence of 2011 World Championships
Course shaper Nick Roma has put together a special course design for the 2014 FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup finals at La Molina, Spain.
Being responsible for the first time for a World Cup course as lead builder, the Maine native's goal was to showcase some of the best riders on a newly designed course.
Using the 2011 World Championships course as a great template he, however, has made some small changes.
“The start section is a new design and will have the riders in the air 3 times in the first 60 meters,” said Roma, who helped to built the 2010 Vancouver Olympic course.
The course line will remain the same after the 2nd corner as in 2011.
But: “The corners are bigger and the features on course are similar but with a new design.”
While training was on today for both, men and ladies, the qualifiers are scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, March 14, at 10:45 AM (CET) for the men, and 1:30 PM (CET) for the ladies.
Finals of top 16 ladies and 32 men (heats of 4) will take place on Saturday, March 15, at 11:30 AM (CET).
