With just a few days to go to the season's SBX World Cup opener FISSnowboard talked to Italy's very own Omar Visintin (24 years), who triumphed last year at Montafon claiming his career's first ever World Cup win; 18 years after he had started snowboarding in South Tyrol, twelve years after his first snowboard race.

Hi Omar, you won in Montafon one year ago, what pops up to your mind when looking back?

Omar Visintin: Montafon is full of good memories for me. I always enjoyed competing in races staged in Austria. But due to my win, it's even more important to me now when coming back to Austria.

You will never forget your first World Cup win so I will never forget the Montafon area.

In a few days it's time to tie up to your good result in Montafon. What do you expect?

I know that I can ride strong again and will give everything to play a major role. However, it's the first race of the season and you never know how good you or your contenders really are.

But again: I will give everything I can.

How did you prepare for the race?

It's hard to say. You prepare for a season not a race. I was training with the team until a few days ago. Now it's time to relax, recharge the batteries and prepare mentally to be 100% fit when racing at Montafon.

Compared to last year the course was altered. What do you think about it?

They moved down the course and thus took away 'my bank'. It was this backside turn where I was able to pass a lot of competitors. I don't know, maybe they were afraid of this (Omar smiles).

Finally, what are your goals for Montafon and the season?

First of all, I want to improve my last year's results. That's all that matters. It's about not standing still but to improve. I have trained well and will enter the season optimistic.
