Paul Berg's season is over before it yet began
Snowboard Germany's snowboard cross athlete Paul Berg will be missing the coming 2015-16 season due to a knee injury.
The 24-year-old from Constance tore his left ACL during a training run crash on the Pitztal glacier and will undergo surgery in Garmisch-Partenkirchen tomorrow already.
“I came short on a double roller and hit it. Then my knee blew. I instantly knew that something was seriously damaged although I was still able to walk,” said Berg who won the 2013 Montafon Team SBX alongside Konstantin Schad.
“It's extremely disappointing to get injured so close to the new season. We have some pretty cool events coming up. But that's life. I was lucky so far but injuries are part of the game. Now I have to deal with it.”
Berg will be replaced at the Montafon World Cup opener by his 17-year-old teammate Sebastian Pietrzykowski who won silver at the 2015 junior world championships in both, the individual as well as team snowboard cross race and will celebrate his World Cup debut.
