The production was based on a Kickstarter initiative by Snowboardcross athletes Jonathan Cheever from the United States and Austrian Maria Ramberger. Parallel to their job as a professional athlete they raised the money to budget their project.

Independent filmmaker Brett Wiese Saunders chased the athletes for two World Cup seasons around the world. "I want to thank all our funders and sponsors. They helped us to create this movie out of an idea", explains Ramberger.

Producer Jonathan Cheever and filmmaker Brett Wiese Saunders were joined at the premiere by featured athletes of the movie like Olympic medal winners Seth Wescott and Lindsey Jacobellis, World Cup winner Hagen Kearney and Nor-Am-Cup champions Mike Perle and Chris Mahaney.

“It was an amazing feeling to rock New York City with our movie. For me it was like going full gas on the first practice run of a World Cup. Nerves, anticipation and all the hard work boiled to this moment. I really enjoyed the evening,” stated Cheever.

Next week SBX the Movie is participating at New Hampshire Film Festival. In November the movie is presented at X-Dance Film Festival in Salt Lake City.

European premiere is in line with the World Cup Opening in Montafon, Austria.
