World Cup host debut for Vallnord-Arcalís
Double snowboard cross event in Andorra
The snowboard cross circuit kicks off the New Year with a double event as well as a premiere. For the first time in the history of the FIS Snowboard World Cup the international contest series will stop over in Andorra.
As if that weren't enough the resort of Vallnord-Arcalís will host a double snowboard cross feature from January 10 thru 12, 2014.
Over the course of the SBX weekend the world's best snowboard cross athletes will once again compete for precious points in the race for the World Cup title and the Crystal Globe as well as for one of the coveted national team spots for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.
Local Organisers together with course builder Jeff Ihaksi (CAN), who was responsible for the tracks of the last two Olympics, have done a great job to provide the perfect set-up.
The Canadian shaper and his crew put together a 1,000 metres long and with 150 metres in vertical drop flat course, which should lead to some amazing racing and passing action.
Especially as the best 24 ladies and 48 men of each respective qualifier will compete in heats of six in the knock out rounds on Saturday, Jan 11 (1:30 PM CET) and Sunday, Jan 12 (2 PM CET).
