Fedorova and Paumola top podium at second EC event
Sofya Fedorova (RUS) and Ville Paumola (FIN) have successfully stepped up their game yesterday bringing home the win in this season's second Europa Cup slopestyle event.
At the indoor contest staged in the SnowWorld Landgraaf, Holland Fedorova, who had kicked off her season with a second place finish the day before, earned a score of 154.00 for back to back 360's on the kicker line and a technical rail section which included a 50/50 to frontside 360 out, frontside boardslide and a frontside lipslide.
The 17-year-old shredder therefore edged off Wednesday's winner Silvia Mittermueller from Germany (146.00) to the second rank leaving an impressive first mark with her first two ever contests on the Europa Cup circuit.
Like the day before, Klara Janikova rounded out the podium as third again (135.00).
In the men's event, top favourite Ville Paumola celebrated his career's first Europa Cup win.
The slopestyle bronze medallist of the 2011 world championships earned a 187.33 beating second ranked Italian Emiliano Lauzi (187.00) by only .33 by landing a cab 540 melon and a frontside 1080 stalefish on the kicker line as well as frontside bluntslide to 270 out, cab 270 and switch boardslide over the rails.
Lauzi might have had the more technical run in the rail section with a frontside bluntslide to 270 out, switch backside boardslide to 270 out and a cab 270 to 270 out but couldn't keep the advantage with a frontside 720 as well as backside 900 on the jumps.
Local hero and 2015 slopestyle junior world champion Erik Bastiaansen placed third 175.33 securing his third podium in six Landgraaf EC starts so far.
